Packing Tips

Packing is quite a story, everyone likes to pack their own goods, and everyone thinks they do it best.

The problem begins when there are damages and the insurance does not provide a reimbursement on damages. At that point customers get the feeling of what they made, and that the insurance coverage they got was for nothing.

"Packing = Art "in moving terms. A good company who has training programs for the employees, may provide great packing services on any job they have. If it’s for a museum, art gallery, privat home or collectors, they're packing services are the best. A good company will provide you with expensive packing materials to prevent any damages that may appear on your shipment items. At this point you may find that their rates may be a little more expensive than others'prices. You should know that with a good company you will receive good packing services to your satisfaction.

Packing methods are not complicated but you will require some experience in packing china and other fragile items or furniture for overseas relocation. Unlike moving companies, shipping companies who pack for overseas need to do it in a professional way in what concerns the packing materials and the experience of  workers who rap the furniture. For local or domestic moving companies blankets canbe used and removed at final destination. For export packing companies,  bubble craft and expansive materials need to b used in order to prevent the upcoming damages that may appear during the transit. It’s recommended that customers should not pack any of their fragile goods or furniture on their own.

In our opinion, customers can pack their own clothing, CD’s, books, miscellaneous, etc. All other goods such as china, pictures, mirrors, and furniture should be left for the shipping company that will also provide you with full coverage if damages may appear during the transit. Customers can purchase boxes on-line or from their shpping company, or at any Home Depot, or Staples, or other websites.

On the packing day, the moving company will provide you with a inventory which will indicate the items packed by owner (PBO) or packed by company (PBC). If you have house hold goods which are expensive, don’t rely on only packing them hoping that nothing will happen to them, ask your mover to provide you with top packing such as special wooden crates to prevent any damages.

For example: LCD or Plasma TV require special crating, Pantings with a value of over $1000 will require special packing, pianos will require special packing & handling, Glass top, Marble top, antique furniture, china cabinets made of glass, statues made of bronze, glass, marble and stone. Large mirrors, sensitive equipment, collection items, etc. all this needs to be packed professionally for your international or long distance relocation. It will save a lot of aggravation if damages will appear once goods are received at the other end.
