International Moving Inventory
International Moving Inventory
A Moving Inventory for international relocation is much similar as a domestic inventory, for international relocation the inventory is much more important and necessary then domestic relocation. On international moving the moving inventory is the confirmation list of all the items that were picked up from your home, if they were packed and by whom, if there were damages prior shipping or moving or not, it provides the number of pcs picked up from your home..
With out a moving inventory there is no other documents that confirms that all 57 pcs (example) where picked up from your home and 27 were packed by the owner and 30 were packed by the company. 12 items had some damages on them before the move, etc... When movers/ International relocation companies pack your home, always request a copy of your moving inventory.
A moving inventory is a must for any type of relocation: domestic or international.
Its very important that the shipping company you higher for the move will list the inventory clear and understandable, all items must be listed on the inventory.
For example:
# 61 - toys - kids room PBO
# 62 - " " " "
# 63 - Linens " " "
# 64 - Bed parts - kids room PBC

One of the major reasons why is it so important is that when your goods are arriving to its destination all documents are processed thru customs, if customs don't understand the inventory, or the inventory is not clear with a description of items, 99% your shipment be held by customs for exams. In order to avoid any delays and additional charges at the port of entry of your destination, its very important to have all documents in hand and done in the right way.
The number of pcs count of goods that were packed in your home is important. when your company will prepare your shipment they will require to declare on the B/L the # of pcs loaded onto your container or LCL (lose container load) shipment. If you decide to pack your shipment on your own you must provide your shipper with all info. the there is a discrepancy with the list of items on your shipment 99% your shipment will be held at customs for exams which will add additional port charge. storage fees. and custom inspection charges on your shipment.
For Insurance purposes:
Your inventory will be listed with the following listings PBO / PBC, what does this mean...??
PBO - Packed by Owner - the owner has packed his goods, insurance coverage will only take place if damages applied while the shipment was in transport and not if damages applied on bad packing.
PBC or CP - Packed by Company / Company Pack - the owner will have full insurance coverage on damages if applied by bad packing or while transport.

The numbers on the inventory will provide a secure list of your shipment where you can detect the number of pcs pick up from your home. If items got lost the insurance company will request the boxes and there numbers from the inventory, the inventory is the proof that your goods were shipped with all your goods.
The bottom line its important to have your moving inventory done by your shipping company clear and understandable for reading, detailed with listing. it will save any delays at customs and avoid any miss items if they get lost.
