One of the best ways to keep your goods well and secured is the packing of your shipment, a lot of people and future customers under estimate the quality of the packing that is needed for an international move. In most cases it’s all about the packing and the reputable company who is providing the right services on your move. If the packing is not done right then your most valuable goods will not make it the way you sow it last.
Packing for an overseas move is very different from that of a move within the United States. All of your furniture must be packed and wrapped properly prior moving. Your dishes (china) must be packed for export in special boxes for china. There is a list of boxes and materials for international shipping and packing. In order to keep your goods in good shape use the right materials for the move.
Not like domestic moving international relocation takes a lot of pre-carriage of your goods and need to be packed well for the journey. A reputable company will pack your goods with 2 layer bubble wrap packing materials and will not use just a wrapping pad. As you know the bubble material will protect your goods and keep the min better condition all thru the moving process.
Professional movers use specially designed cartons that are heavy enough for fragile items your china will be packed and wrapped with special packing materials to keep them protected on all times. The materials will take some extra space but your goods will remain protected!! Pictures will be packed in boxes that are designed for pictures; your lams will be packed into boxes that are designed for lams, etc. wardrobe boxes will contain your suites and dresses. Think about your clothing how would they look like folded in a box after one moth and on some destinations it could be more. The better your goods are packed the more they are protected.
What can I Pack? The famous question is what can I pack ? How can I save more $$$ ? Customers ! You can pack anything you wish for… Bottom line it will be you’re responsibility for the condition of the goods when they arrive to your final destination.
What is recommended to pack, it’s recommended to pack you own clothing, books, CD’s, linens, blankets, tools, re arrange your paper work, go thru your personal effects when the company crews will arrive to your home there will be no time to arrange your documents and personal effects. The time to organize your home is from signing the agreement with your shipping company until the pick up day.
A reputable company will disassemble your standard furniture and will reassemble it on the other side. They will also remove all major debris once the goods where un-loaded at your final destination (not required if the goods are moving into storage faculties), or if requested otherwise.
Most companies will pack your furniture and all your breakables this will keep your insurance coverage in full coverage of your shipment. Otherwise the coverage will not cover breakables that were packed by owner. While packing your home the moving crew will provide the customer with a detailed inventory of the goods packing and loaded onto truck or container, on the list it will indicate who packed what PBO or PBC
PBO – Packed By Owner
The inventory will be listed in itemized based on the boxes packed and picked up in the rooms from your home. The customer will have a copy of the following inventory and will require to sign the inventory prior the packing crew will leave the house. It’s the customer respocebillty to do a walk thru with the foreman in home prior singing the inventory. Once the customer singed the inventory the crew finished there work and are good to go. If the customer will find any goods after the crew has left the customer will require negotiating a price for an additional pick up or sending the remaining boxes/items on his expense. Once the inventory is signed it means that the customer did all the necessary checking prior the crew leaving.
If the customer is moving a container overseas in most cases the container will be packed and loaded on packing day. Make sure not to forget any goods once the container is closed the packing crew will close and seal the container. The container will be transported to the Port or Rail Ramp. A redelivery of container can add up to high charges. Therefore it’s most recommended to have the walk thru with the packing crew prior they close the container.
Special Art’s or Antics, Piano etc.
If you have any special arts at home, pictures over $2000.00, piano’s (grand, baby grand, or upright) notify your mover in advance. Piano’s Grand Father Clock’s, chandeliers, etc. all will require special packing services and special handling charges. Big shipping companies who have there own carpenter in warehouse will take measurements of your items and build special wooden boxes for goods. Other companies will use an outside service (you need to check how professional they are) if the estimated you get are too cheap it means that the special crating will not hold and protect your good as you require to. For example packing pianos start from $400 - $700 it depends on the size of your piano.
Special handling will apply as well, a grand father clock will need to be special handeld and packed well, as well for a piano, etc. Marble tops, Large marrow’s, pictures, glass top tables, pool table (marble) base, vases, fine arts, antics, all will require to be special handled & crated by the professional company.
