Peru customs info

Customer’s presence in Peru is required for customs clearance. Household goods and personal effects dutiable (The average rate for duty and tax is 20%). Household goods previously exported from Peru may be imported duty-free with supporting documents (Inventory, Export Policy, etc.) stamped by Peruvian Customs Shipment must arrive before customers arrival or 120 days before customers arrival. Customs will allow the importation of no more than one (1) electrical appliance of same kind on a 20% import duty basis. Additional similar electrical appliances will be charged at the rate of 33%. 

Documents Required
Original Passport, Detailed inventory (avoid PBO items), Foreigners need a legalized copy of a Work Contract presented to the Ministry of Labor. 

Vehicle/Car
Import duties and excise tax levied on all used cars, but the car cannot exceed five years of antiquity. Autos not belonging to diplomats require an inspection before Customs clearance can be completed. Foreign Peruvian diplomats duty free

Documents required:
Original commercial invoice – Original fully detailed, Proof of ownership, Title and Certificate of inspection at origin issued by any international surveillance company such as SGS, SSI, Bureau Veritas.

Diplomatic Shipment
Diplomats and embassy officers
Members of foreign armed forces working on official missions
Foreign representatives of International Organisations
Returning Peruvian diplomats after having completed their missions abroad
Shipments belonging to returning Peruvian diplomats after they have completed their missions abroad will be duty-free, hence its value does not exceed the amounts determined by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These shipments will be subject to physical inspection by Peruvian Customs Authorities.

Document required :
2 original OBLs or AWB, Detailed packing list avoiding "PBO" items (Consular stamp is not required), Member´s original passport. Free Entry Permit issued by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreigners:
All shipments are inspected by Peruvian Customs Authorities - except foreign diplomats. 20 % duties will be paid on household goods shipments based on the value given by Peruvian customs authorities after shipment´s inspection. If client wishes to be present during the inspection, a prior coordination with our Imports Department will be necessary.

Documents Required:
2 original OBLs or AWB, Detailed packing list avoiding "PBO" items (Consular stamp is not required ), Member´s original passport, Legalized photocopy of Work Contract issued by the local company and presented before our Ministry of Labor (not necessarily approved).

Restricted Items
For firearms, ammunitions, and telecommunication equipments a special license will be required prior to their arrival to our country.

Prohibited Items
Narcotics and drugs, Pornographic material, Explosives, Telecommunications equipment and Firearms (maximum caliber .38) and telecommunication equipment require a special license prior to arrival of goods. Firearms also require proof of ownership and a previous license must be obtained from the Ministry of Interior (no automatic arms are allowed) Subject to confiscation if requirements are not met. 

Live Animals and Plants
Vaccination and Rabies vaccination Certificate and Health Certificate.
